San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks

Website Gambling Article by - - Nov 12, 2007

The Seattle Seahawks will look to rebound from a disappointing loss last week at Cleveland tonight when they take on the (2-6) San Francisco 49ers.

Last we saw the Niners, they lost on the road to Atlanta to drop their 6th straight of the season. This club has been flat out putrid since its lucky opening night win at home to Arizona. Their only other win this season came against the “Defeated” St. Louis Rams way back in Week 2. The offense just hasn’t shown up on a weekly basis, and the defense has suffered very much because of it. The Niners have scored a total of 39 points their L/3 games, and an even more pathetic 49 points their L/5. Injuries to both QB Alex Smith and RB Frank Gore have played a role, but I foresee their ineptitude on the offensive side of the ball continuing tonight against a Seattle bunch that got extremely embarrassed last week.

Seattle looked to be in great shape early on vs. Cleveland, but allowed the Browns to rally late to eventually lose in overtime. HC Mike Holmgren will have worked his men to near death this week after their pitiful performance at Cleveland off their ”Bye”. This club will be eagerly anticipating tonight’s game just so they can get a piece of someone in a different jersey. Add to the fact that San Francisco handed them one of their three home losses last season, and we’ve got a recipe for a nice home win and cover for the Seahawks. They already served up the Niners their lunch in their first meeting in the Bay this year, 23-3, and a repeat performance wouldn’t shock me in the least. They harassed QB Smith all game, 6 sacks, and eventually knocked him out. With the Niners owning no semblance of a ground attack, points will once again be hard to come by if they have to rely on their passing game. Seattle boasts the best DEF YPP average in the NFC West, 18.6, so the unit as a whole should experience the same type of success it did vs. the Niners back in Week 4. Seattle’s offense has also been firing on all cylinders of late. Granted, it was against two of the worst defenses in the league (STL & CLE), but they’ve hit the 30-point plateau in each of those games and should come into this prime time match-up very confident.

These clubs met once already this season, and it’s a game the San Francisco franchise would much rather forget. Seattle controlled that game from the opening kick-off and never looked back. Tune your HDTV sets to ESPN at 8:30 ET to see if the Niners can get themselves off the mat, or if the Seahawks can sweep the season series...
