Kansas vs. Texas

The Jayhawks dream season commences Saturday evening when they take the show on the road once again to bang heads with HC Dennis Franchione’s Texas A&M Aggies. Kansas picked up its 7th win of the season last week in Boulder when they knocked off the Buffaloes by a 19-14 final count. KU had lost five straight at Boulder since posting a 40-24 win way back in 1995 when I was a sophomore at the aforementioned University.

The 2007 campaign has been a joy to watch for the Lawrence faithful thus far, but it’s paid off very handsomely for their backers as well. The Jayhawks have now rattled off six straight ATS wins in a row, and have covered the number in 10 of their L/11 overall. That streak will certainly be put to the test this week as Kyle Field has been a nightmare venue for HC Mangino and his Jayhawks since he arrived in Lawrence. The Jayhawks are a poor 0-3 SU & ATS when paying the Aggies a visit, and they’ve lost those games by an average of 14 PPG.

Texas A&M bounced back from its humiliating effort at Texas Tech two weeks ago with a woodshed beating of Nebraska in Lincoln. They’ll no doubt come into this game very confident after demolishing the Huskers, but Big Red’s programs in disarray and the Jayhawks will present them with a much stiffer overall challenge. The Aggies will look to its bread and butter offensively, TB Goodson & FB Lane, and hope to chip away at the Jayhawks stop unit for all four quarters. That being said, Kansas boasts a solid defense that excels at stopping the run. They’ve only allowed opponents 78 YPG thus far, and are off holding the Buffaloes to a measly 68 yards on 33 attempts. A&M will find themselves in a pickle if they get down a couple of scores since they just don’t have the firepower or offensive philosophy to match scores with the Jayhawks offensive attack.

With Kansas now under the watchful eye of CFB nation, the game has been moved to 7:00 ET and will be aired on ESPN2. Fans of the Crimson and Blue should get used to this type of attention for the rest of the year since the Jayhawks aren’t going away anytime soon….
SLAM YOUR MAN!!!
