Kansas vs. Colorado

The undefeated Jayhawks leave the great state of Kansas for the first time this season to head for Boulder to take on the (4-3) Colorado Buffaloes. This is a huge litmus test for HC Mark Mangino’s club to see if they’re really as good as their record suggests. They’re coming off another brilliant outing at home where they easily disposed of the Baylor Bears by a 58-10 final count. On the other hand, Colorado dropped its third game of the season last week when they paid the K-State Wildcats a visit. The same team that KU beat in Manhattan (30-24) a couple weeks ago dropped a 47 spot on the Buffaloes en route to the 27-point home win and cover.

Just going by the numbers, Kansas was installed as a 3.5 road underdog vs. K-State, while the Buffaloes closed 4.5 underdogs in the same venue. This number tells us that the oddsmakers believe Kansas is the better of these two ball clubs, and it only seems reasonable that they’ve been installed a road chalk for the first time this season. However, the Boulder surroundings aren’t conducive for success for clubs not used to playing in a thin air environment. Just ask Oklahoma how they felt in the second half of their shocking loss at Colorado back in late September.

The Jayhawks possess one of the top offensive units in the nation, as they rank second in scoring at 50 PPG and seventh in total yards at 516 YPG. The offense is well balanced evidenced by the 219 YPG they gain on the ground and the 297 YPG they’ve averaged through the air. Defensively, they’ve been every bit as good as the offense ranking second in the nation in scoring (10 PPG), and fourth in total defense (240 YPG). The rush “D” has been nasty only allowing its opposition 80 YPG, while the pass “D” has forced 12 errant throws and only allowed four TD passes.

This is a huge game in the Big 12 North, so ESPN grabbed the rights to broadcast this game and the festivities begin at 5:30 ET. Be there or be square!!!
SLAM YOUR MAN!!!
