Cleveland Indians vs. NY Yankees

With the Yankees being the only team to avoid the sweep in the Divisional Round, a pivotal Game 4 match-up is now set for the rest of the country to tune into if the MNF turns into the rout it looks like on paper. The rubber armed Paul Byrd will get the nod in Game 4 for the Tribe, while the Yankees will counter with Chien-Ming Wang who got pounded in the first game of this series. The Yanks have been deemed a –200 chalk in the contest with the ‘Total’ set at 10.

Paul Byrd put forth a solid campaign in ’07 that saw him post a 15-8 record. The Tribe won 19 of his 31 starts on the year, and he’s most definitely the forgotten man in their starting rotation with Sabathia and Carmona putting forth Cy Young efforts. His ERA was a bit high, 4.59, but he’s a grinder that has solid control evidenced by the measly 28 walks he issued in 192 innings of work. However, he struggled in September going 2-3 with a 5.21 ERA. He made one start against the Yankees this season and got lit up like a Christmas tree. He allowed seven runs on seven hits in two innings of a home loss back in early August. In eight career starts against the Yankees, Mr. Byrd is 1-4 with a 4.44 ERA.

Those expecting Wang to get pounded again like in Game 1, think again. He’s a much better pitcher in the comfy confines of Yankee Stadium, and will be much tougher for the Tribes' bats to get to this time around. His ERA (2.75) is over a run lower than his overall ERA (3.97), and he’s only surrendered 96 hits in 111 innings of work. On top of that, he’s only allowed 34 ER’s, so it’s safe to say Cleveland’s offense has its work cut out for them if indeed they close it out tonight.

Will Cleveland cash all their backers’ series bets, or do the Yanks have enough in the tank to send this one back to “The Jake”? Tune to TBS at 7:30 ET to catch all the drama…

SLAM YOUR MAN!!!
