Texas vs. OklahomaWebsite Gambling Article by - Who2beton.com - Oct 5, 2007 Brought to you by Who2beton.com The 102nd installment of the Red River Shoot-out takes place today in a game that pits Big 12 powerhouses against one another just days after both inexplicably lost last weekend. The luster of this game has been minimized immensely after Texas laid an enormous egg at home last week vs. K-State, and Oklahoma some how managed to piss away a 24-10 lead in Boulder. However, all eyes will still be on the Cotton Bowl during this time slot because these are still the premiere teams in the Big 12 and everyone wants to see how they’ll react after last week. If not for last weeks snafu, the Sooners would be a perfect 5-0 SU and looking to continue their march towards the National Championship game. Though their young at some of the skill positions, the Sooners have gotten excellent contributions from QB Sam Bradford and RB DeMarco Murray. Bradford has completed 72% of his passes for 1179 yards, and boasts an incredible TD/INT ratio of 15/4. The offense has averaged a whopping 54 PPG and close to 500 YPG with him at the helm, and no defense has been able to stop it yet. The only thing stopping the Sooners last week was the thin air in Boulder as many of the youngsters were sucking wind throughout the second half. Texas looks to have some major problems on its hands coming into this game. For starters, QB Colt McCoy won’t be playing at 100%. He got knocked around by K-State once again last week, and ended up leaving the game with signs of a concussion. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise for someone off the bench to come in and relieve him if need be, because he hasn’t lived up to any of his pre-season hype. He’s completed 63% of his passes for 1200+ yards so far, but he’s thrown for nine INT’s and only eight TDs this season. The Longhorns have been very inconsistent offensively all season long, and that can’t happen today if they expect to rattle off their third straight win over the Sooners. This is one of the greatest rivalries in college football, with Texas holding a 57-39-5 all-time advantage. Since moving the game to Dallas in 1929, Texas leads, 45-35-4. The last 10 meetings have been split (5-5). This is the 33rd time in the series that both squads come into the contest ranked in the Top-25.
