Conference USA East rivals clash in the first Tuesday night CFB game of the year. Neither club has gotten off to a good start, but this is the start of CUSA play for the Thundering Herd, while the Tigers will look to rebound after losing its first conference game a couple weeks ago to Central Florida.
Marshall doesn't own a single win on the season, and has had 10 days to prepare for this contest. They haven't gotten off to the start HC Mark Snyder and his staff would have like, but the beginning of CUSA play allows them to wipe the slate clean and concentrate on the future. Since Marshall joined CUSA in 2005, they've split both games with the Tigers. They won last years contest by a 41-27 final count, but got beat up pretty good in the first time they paid the Liberty Bowl a visit.
Memphis had a win in the bag last week at Arkansas State, but fell by a 35-31 final count after holding a 25-point lead at the half. The team simply imploded with penalties and turnovers in the second half, and their offense simply forgot how to move the ball. It was quite a meltdown to say the least, and a big effort under the prime time lights is in order for their coaching staff to avoid the hot seat.
Memphis comes into tonight's contest with heavy hearts as one of their own was murdered late Sunday night in an apparent targeted shooting. The school originally planned on canceling this contest, but ultimately decided to stick to the schedule and will have a moment of silence for the departed Taylor Bradford.
Tune to ESPN2 at 8:00 ET to see which of these poor football teams comes out on top in the "Ugly Bowl". SLAM YOUR MAN!!!
