Texas AM Aggies - Miami Hurricanes

We don’t get to see one of the top five teams in action tonight, but this match-up between the Texas A&M Aggies and the Miami Hurricanes should be a good one. HC Franchione’s club is off a pasting of UL-Monroe (the same team we saw Tulsa smash in their own house a couple weeks ago), while the Hurricanes took their Sooner frustrations out on good old Florida International.

The Aggies return 15 starters from last year (9-4) team, but they have bigger aspirations than the Holiday Bowl this season, and a win in the Orange Bowl would have them on their way towards achieving those lofty goals. This will be the Aggies first road game of the season, and they’ll be looking to improve upon last years solid 4-0 mark in the regular season. Last weeks effort was one of the best offensive displays the Aggies have put forth in quite some time. A&M had 310 yards rushing to go with the 237 yards passing, and they scored on nine of its 10 possessions.

Miami will look to counter with what’s supposed to be a fantastic defense, but we really didn’t get to see it flex its muscles against a very good OK Sooner attack a couple weeks back. That being said, the Hurricanes will look to take advantage of what’s been a porous Aggies run defense that’s allowed opponents to churn out 155 YPG this season. If QB Kyle Wright is on, the Hurricanes could have a banner night offensively since T A&M has also allowed opponents to rip their secondary apart to the tune of 230 YPG.

Miami is a perfect 9-0 SU playing under the lights on ESPN Thursday Night Football since 2000, and the ‘Under’ is a moneymaking 21-5 their L/26 home games. Weather could play a role this evening, so the winner of this game might just be the one that avoids the costly mistake. This is a huge game for both schools as Miami HC Randy Shannon is looking to turn the program around, while HC Dennis Franchione needs a victory here to keep the whispers from turning into bold statements about his tenure in College Station.

SLAM YOUR MAN!!!
