Tennessee Volunteers vs. Florida Gators

All eyes will be on Gainesville at 3:30 ET Saturday afternoon as the 22nd ranked Tennessee Volunteers and 5th ranked Florida Gators open up SEC East play. This has been a fantastic rivalry over the years and been a showcase game for many of the talented players on both respective teams to introduce themselves to the rest of the nation.

This has been a very competitive series over the last decade as six of the last nine overall have been decided by four points or less, and the underdog has gone a money making 7-3-1 ATS their L/11 encounters.

Florida HC Urban Meyer is 2-0 against the Vols since he arrived in Gainesville. Those wins include a 16-7 victory in “The Swamp” back in ’05, and a 21-20 come from behind victory last year in Knoxville. Wins over W. Kentucky and Troy State might lead many to believe they won’t be ready for this match-up, but believe me, Meyer will have his kids physically and mentally ready for this battle.

I can’t say the same for HC Phillip Fulmer who hasn’t been able to get his team up for a big game in quite some time. They opened up this season on the road in Berkeley and got pounded by a 45-31 final count. Sure, it was close in the 3rd, but they ran out of gas when they needed to come through the most. Hopefully tough games vs. Bowl teams from a year ago (Cal, S. Mississippi) will have this team ready on both sides of the ball for what their about to see in “The Swamp”.

The ‘Under’ has been a fine proposition when looking to make money in this rivalry as it’s 12-5 in Florida’s last 17 home games, and its 9-4 in Tennessee’s L/13 SEC tussles. However, with both clubs defense having trouble limiting their oppositions passing attacks early on and the fact that QB Erik Ainge and Tim Tebow have combined to throw 11 TDs and no INTs this season, we could see a huger scoring affair than in previous seasons.

Tune to CBS at 3:30 ET to see if the defending champs and HC Meyer can get the best of Phil and his Volunteers.

SLAM YOUR MAN!!!
