Oklahoma State vs. Troy State

After putting forth a disappointing effort in Athens week 1, the Oklahoma State Cowboys bounced back with a decided victory at home over Sun Belt Conference member Florida Atlantic. Now they’ll look to take advantage of another SBC representative, but this time, they’ll be heading south to take on HC Larry Blakeney’s Trojans.

You might remember this club from a few years back when they upset the then #19 ranked Missouri Tigers in another ESPN evening telecast back in 2004. This game will have a much different flavor to it however, as this years version of the Trojans plays a heck of a lot more offense than the defense it played so well back then.

However, the Cowboys have been hampered with a rash of injuries to start the season, and they might have a hard time putting the Trojans away if they play like they have on the road throughout HC Mike Gundy’s stay in Stillwater.

With both teams running the same type of spread attack, offense will be the name of the game this evening. Look for both QB’s Bobby Reid and Zac Robinson to have big nights in the passing game, and for the Cowboys to put a lofty point total up on the scoreboard. However, MG Veterans Stadium was an electric environment for their first nationally televised game, and I expect nothing different tonight. The home team will feed off the crowd’s emotion and put their best foot forward. Oklahoma State has been susceptible to the pass early on, and QB Omar Haugabook and crew love nothing better than to sling the ball all over the field.

ESPN certainly picked a good one for their Friday night contest, and it’ll be the perfect taste for diehard CFB fans to sink their teeth into before a very meaty Saturday schedule. Tune to the deuce at 8:00 ET to see if the little engine that could can slay another BCS giant in their own backyard.

SLAM YOUR MAN!!!
