Slot Tips - The Truth

Website Gambling Article by - JackpotAmy - Aug 2, 2006

So you've searched the Internet for slot playing hints and tips and ways to beat the slots, you've read various websites and seen that all the advice is basically the same. Well, your going to find my slot playing tips tend to differ from the ones you've probably already read.

I strongly disagree with some of the online articles on how to beat the slots and after reading this article I'm sure you'll agree and will be able to relate to these facts as you have most likely noticed for yourself that not all slot machines are random and should be played the same way.

Take this so called slot tip for instance - "The RNG (Random number generator) insures that each and every spin on a slot machine is totally random and unrelated to the previous spin or spins". Now how often have you played the slots and instinctively know when the machine is "dead" or when the machine is in a "good cycle" and is paying well? According to the above statement that, every spin is random, means that there is no such thing as good and bad cycles - thats just not true.

Are these websites trying to tell us that a slot machine does NOT know how much and when to payout and when to be tight? Right! How can a slot machine possibly be programmed to pay out a certain percentage if every spin is random and seperate to every other spin? A slot machines "brain" is a computer, the machine "knows" how much money has been put in it - it knows how much money it has paid out and it knows when and how much it should payout for EACH and EVERY spin in order to comply with its set payout percentage.

A JackpotAmy Slot tip. If every 2 or 3 spins the machine is returning money then its well worth staying on it and playing. However if every spin is dead after 5 or 6 spins then the machine is just eating your money - get up and leave, its not the only machine in the casino, try another slot machine.

While I'm writing this article I have the Sweet Hawaii slot game from Party Casino minimized on my desktop and setup for $5 of auto spins at 1 cent per line (yes I know, big spender). I haven't heard a winning combination in awhile and the reels clicking into place without a win is becoming monotonous - not to mention the fact I'm losing money - means that'll I'll stop the auto-play and try another slot game, after all they have plenty to choose from.

Regular slot players like myself tend to develop a certain feel for the machines. I have known people that could walk along an aisle of slots and select one they just knew was going to pay off well, and many times they were usually right! Learn to trust your instincts or gut feelings. Your subconscious knows a lot more than you do.

Ever only played a few lines and not all 9 or 15 and a good winning combination or even a jackpot comes out on the line you didn't have selected? Well don't feel bad, if you were playing those extra lines the chances are that combination would not have showed up. The slot machine knew you weren't playing that particular line and would not have to pay out.

I bet this has happened to you. Ever noticed when playing the slots that the bonus game doesn't appear for quite awhile and then you get 3 or 4 bonus games in quick succession, sometimes you even win another bonus while playing a bonus? And they say each spin of the reels is completely random - horse feathers, the machine was due to pay out.

Or what about when your on a good run and you decide to bet a few more coins per line? Oops all of a sudden your slot machine isn't paying like it was anymore is it? Why? Because for the amount of coins you were playing the machine was due to payout, however once you bumped up the bet per line then it wasn't programmed to payout THAT much just yet.

Have you ever noticed when you win the bonus game you think, great! 15 free spins, or whatever the machine awards you. Then you find that during those free spins suddenly the symbols that were appearing all the time before the bonus game just aren't showing up anymore.

Another thing you will come across when playing slots is that as your credits get low you will notice that winning combinations nearly, but not quite, line up. The slot machine knows your credits are running out and wants you to continue playing by enticing you to feed more coins into the machine in the hope that, because the combinations are close,  its ready to pay out.

One way of telling if a slot machine is paying is to observe the scatter symbols (if the machine you are playing has scatters) If 2 or more scatters never seem to show up together after playing for awhile then its a pretty good indication that the slot machine is currently tight, and what do we do when we come across a tight slot? Leave it and try another machine or try again another day.

Yeehah! I knew I did the right thing leaving the Sweet Hawaii slot. I transferred to Party Casinos exciting Cash Cruise slot game and won $15.50 in the 3 scattered ships bonus game.

Well thats my gambling fix for the day. I'll call it quits while I'm $13.80 up for the day - I always keep a record of how much I start and end the day with. Thats the spirit of playing slots and gambling, it should be fun and exciting. If you find it stressful then get out. Fast!

Until next time - Chow, JackpotAmy

JackpotAmy you have hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned. I never truly believed every spin of the slot reels was seperate. You only have to sit in a row of slot machines and watch a couple of slots to the left and right of you. You'll soon see the complete difference in how each machine is performing. Some, like you said are definite non payers or dead, while others seem to be on a winning streak for awhile and then drop right down to the dead zone. You really do have to know when the slot machine you are playing has lost its winning streak.

Keep the articles coming JackpotAmy, as at least your slot tips are believable. Heres to beating the slots! Carol M. - Las Vegas
